The Engage4BIO Hungary HUB Team has worked hard all summer long to deliver interesting and engaging activities to promote bioeconomy in the agricultural and food sector. Read a summary of their efforts below!

Valley of Arts

The Valley of Arts Festival took place from 19 Jul 2024 to 28 Jul 2024, and MOME in collaboration with Engage4BIO, prepared two workshops that were held on Saturday 27th of July.

From 12:00 to 14:00, the programme started with a cyanotype workshop where participants could make light prints with the area’s indicator plants. During the creative process, there was an opportunity to view and discuss soil samples collected in Taliandörögd with experts, which also led to fascinating discussions on the importance of soil health and conservation.

The second event was the sustainability picnic led by Zsófi Németh from 15:00-17:00, which was organised around the use of nettle. Participants could learn about nettle and its uses, and then make nettle pesto to eat with the kneaded dough they made. The pasta was accompanied by nettle refreshments (nettle tea and nettle syrup).

Participants in the workshop went home with a small riso booklet, which, in addition to a general description of nettles, contained two recipes: a nettle soup and the recipe for the nettle pesto they had made in the workshop. The booklet was made by Réka Virág Bakonyi Bakonyi.
